Backpack Program

The Backpack Program has been in place at Pope John XXIII for the past three years and supports less fortunate children who depend on school breakfast and lunch. We provide single-serve, non-perishable food items over long weekends and school breaks. This school year, we served 38 children in need. The numbers can, of course, fluctuate from year to year and within the year as well.  

Our outreach to the community is largely due to donations from parishioners. We also have benefitted from a few outside donations.

Donations needed are:

• Chef Boyardee cups
• Mac & cheese cups
• Instant oatmeal single-serve packs
• Fruit cups/applesauce
• Pudding cups
• Low-fat milk (Horizon individual containers/shelf stable)

Gift cards to BJs, Walmart, Wegmans, and Price Chopper are always appreciated and can be put in an envelope and dropped in the collection basket or left at the parish office!
