OFFICE ASSISTANT | PART-TIME
This position is often the main point of “first contact” for those coming into the office and answering the phones and vital to the mission of the Linked Parishes of Christ the King and Pope John XXIII. The individual strives to keep the integrity of the parish office a place that is warm and welcoming to all who visit the office and must be a self-starter and possess a strong work ethic.
Support includes: Answering phones, checking emails, assisting the Parish Administrative Assistant with filing, report generation, research, meeting set-up, and other duties.
HOURS: 16-20 per week; Monday-Thursday 8:30 AM - 12:30 PMESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following.
Screen phone calls and route callers to appropriate parties
Serve as the main point of contact for the Pastor and Pastoral Associate.
Learn to operate new office technologies as they are developed and implemented
Willing to work in a linked Parish and PCA setting
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Learn the Parish Data Software; work with the Business Administrator and Administrative Assistant in keeping the Database updated, and set up for different office meetings and activities including preparation for weekly collection counting
Receive, and distribute Mail appropriately/prepare items for mailing
Understand communication via social media outlets, Bulletin, and Website working with our Communication Coordinator.
As needed, assist in the preparation of the linked parish bulletin
Keep track of Mass intentions and assist with preparing Mass Cards via our digital database.
As needed, assist the Homebound Minister in updating listing of the sick, and deceased, as well other special projects.

Self-starting and willing to work with minimal supervision
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills including maintaining polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail, and in face-to-face meetings.
High level of attention to detail
Proficient in MS Office Suite. (Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel,)
Proficient in using digital platforms. (calendar, email, drive, PDS Database, etc).
Maintains an orderly and clean office and filing system
Must be able to handle multiple tasks and work with volunteers.
Practicing Catholic or possessing a sound knowledge of the Catholic faith preferred
Completion of the Safe Environment Certification Training for the Diocese of Syracuse and updated when expires.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
One to three years prior administrative support experience, preferably in customer support.
