These 50 days are marked by joy, hope, and new life as we celebrate Christ’s victory over sin and death. The first eight days, known as the Easter Octave, extend the joy of Easter Sunday into a week of feast and praise.
The word Easter comes from Old English, meaning simply the "East." Just as the rising sun brings light and hope to the world, the Risen Christ—the true Light of the world—fills our hearts with the promise of new life.
A powerful symbol of this light is the Paschal Candle, blessed and lit at the Easter Vigil. Throughout the Easter Season, it remains lit during all liturgical celebrations, placed near the ambo as a reminder of the presence of the Risen Lord among us.
This season is filled with Alleluias, joyful worship, and the call to live as Easter people—bearing witness to the Good News of the Resurrection in our lives.
